The DLAB is a standardized test used by the U.S. military to assess an individual’s ability to learn foreign languages. It evaluates skills in pattern recognition, analogies, and problem-solving to predict success in language training programs.
The practice tests will be based on content from other publicly available sources and published materials. The contents of the exam include controlled information. There are no materials in this app that are derived directly from the DLAB. The questions are developed by entities that have not taken the DLAB to ensure no controlled information is used in the app.
Our app offers targeted practice exercises, sample questions, and timed tests (coming soon) that mirror the DLAB’s format. In the future it will also includes personalized study tips and performance tracking to help you improve your language aptitude skills effectively.
The DLAB consists of three primary sections. The first section involved being able to listen to words and identify the one with a different stress pattern. The second section applies a new set of language rules to a fictional language. The last section associated images to words and asks test takers to identify the word associated with a new image. The app will practice these three sections.
The DLAB is scored on a scale from 0 to 175. Although passing scores can vary based on military branch and language requirements, aiming for a score above 110 is generally recommended in order to be competitive for language training programs.
Yes, in the future, the app includes robust progress tracking features. You can monitor your scores, identify your strengths and weaknesses, and adjust your study plan accordingly for continuous improvement.
The app is free. We hope to offer bonus features for a subscription in the future.
Consistency is key. We recommend daily practice sessions of 20–30 minutes. Regular practice helps you build familiarity with the test format and improve your overall performance on the DLAB.
